MLB The Show 26: Pro Pitching Strategies

If you want to dominate online in MLB The Show 26, pitching isn’t just about throwing heat. The pros rely on precise mechanics, tunneling, and manipulating the batter’s Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI). Here’s how to level up your pitching game.

1. Optimize Your Competitive Settings

Before you even step on the mound, make sure your game settings give you the cleanest, most accurate pitching experience:

Pinpoint Pitching: Always use Pinpoint. It gives you the tightest Perfect Accuracy Region (PAR), letting you hit corners consistently.

Camera Angle: Use Strike Zone or Pitcher Zoom. Seeing from the same angle you pitch helps you read breaks and mimic what your opponent sees.

Pitch Trail *** censurada pelo sistema ***: Turn it on. Watching the exact trajectory of your pitch helps you line up different pitches in the same tunnel.

2. Master Pitch Tunneling

Tunneling is the secret to freezing hitters. It’s when different pitches leave your hand looking identical before breaking in different directions.

Sinker/Cutter Tunnel: Start with a Sinker inside on a same-handed batter. Follow up with a Cutter on the same path. The Sinker jams them, the Cutter breaks away, forcing weak contact.

High Fastball/Breaking Ball Tunnel: Throw a 4-Seam Fastball high and inside, then tunnel a Slider or Changeup from the same release point. The hitter expects the fastball, but the breaking ball drops out of the zone.

Back-Door & Front-Door: Freeze aggressive batters with pitches that start outside the zone and break late to clip the edges. It’s perfect for inducing swings at tough locations.

3. Manipulate the PCI Meta

Advanced hitters rely on zone hitting, so your job is to mess with their PCI:

Avoid the Corners Trap: Top players slam their analog stick fully to hit corners. Place your pitches just off the exact vertex to force them to overcompensate, leading to weak swings.

Use Bear Down Wisely: In key moments, shrink the PAR for a single pitch. If your input is perfect, this can lock in precision on a high-leverage pitch.

Clutch Attribute Strategy: When runners are in scoring position, your pitcher’s Clutch rating directly affects the batter’s PCI. Keep high-Clutch relievers ready to shut down late-game threats.

4. Disrupt Batter Timing

Mixing up timing and exploiting tendencies is just as important as location:

Slide Step from Stretch: Hold L2/LT to slide step. It changes your release and velocity, throwing off batters who sit on a fastball rhythm.

Lefty/Righty Splits: Watch feedback. If a hitter is late on inside fastballs, keep exploiting it. If they check-swing often, throw off-speed completely out of the zone to make them chase.
